Broad Street, 1854

During the mid-1800’s in London, Dr. John Snow mapped all the occurrences of cholera by home address, as well as the location of public water pumps.

By analyzing the spatial pattern, Snow was able to determine the water pump on Broad Street was the source of the outbreak.
